Melissa Manor has been synonymous with Newfoundland bowling in the last two decades. However, her career success began early. In 1988, Melissa attended her first national championship on the bantam girls team. That experience and subsequent silver medal ignited her passion for the sport . Since then, Melissa has appeared in 35 nationals, both as a bowler and a coach, and has earned a staggering 10 combined medals from YBC, C5PBA and MBAC.
Throughout her career, Melissa has had a fighters mentality. Even when the odds are stacked against her, she always finds a way to rally. It’s why it comes at no surprise that she was a member of both of the first NL Women’s teams to win Gold at Master’s Nationals and the C5PBA Open.
In addition to her illustrious career as a bowler, Melissa has dedicated herself to growing and building the sport of 5-Pin bowling. She has served on multiple executives, locally and provincially. Her various volunteer endeavours culminated in her co-founding the Newfoundland Bowling Tour in 2017. Operating as President, she has been a driving force behind positive change in Newfoundland. The NBT has hosted over 20 events including adult, youth and pop-up events. The philanthropic effort of hosting the annual Bobby O Memorial Tournament has seen over $18,000 donated to the Cancer Care Foundation. Finally, the education branch called NBT Academy saw a virtual education series throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as Youth and Adult Summer schools in 2023.
Melissa has enhanced the competitive culture of bowling in NL through her volunteerism and by founding multiple development programs. Her family is full of bowling history, so it is only natural that she has followed in the footsteps of her father, Hall of Fame Builder, Joe Manor.
We celebrate inductee to the NL5PBA Hall of Fame, in the Bowler/Builder category, Melissa Manor.
